90s Alabama hard rock — the band behind “Got No Shame” and “And Fools Shine On,” back with new music.

Brother Cane came out of Birmingham and owned rock radio in the mid-to-late ’90s. The debut Virgin album produced “Got No Shame,” “That Don’t Satisfy Me,” and “Hard Act To Follow.” Then “And Fools Shine On” from Seeds , and “I Lie In The Bed I Make” from Wishpool , a number-one rock-radio single. Wishpool was their last full album until now.

Frontman Damon Johnson spent the next 25 years as lead guitarist on the road with John Waite, Alice Cooper, Thin Lizzy, and Lynyrd Skynyrd — filling the spot left by the late Gary Rossington. That road work feeds the new record, Magnolia Medicine , cut in Nashville with original bassist Glenn Maxey. Opening track “If This Means War” is not a quiet comeback. A southern band, reborn.

Headline night on the outdoor stage. San Antonio’s Lynnwood King and The Revival open.
